Chaston's pharmacies are able to offer free blood pressure testing for everyone and all you have to do is call in to your local branch where we can carry out the test in a private consultation room in a matter of minutes. The pharmacist will then be able to offer information on your result and provide any advice you may need on how to achieve a healthier lifestyle and reduce your risk of developing any problems.

Chaston Pharmacies dispense all NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and vet prescriptions. Our pharmacists and pharmacy staff will be able to give you any advice you need about your medicines or answer any questions which you may have. As we use a number of suppliers, if an item is not in stock, we can usually obtain these the same day or the following working day. If you are unable to wait for your medication, we can also help to find a branch that has the item in stock.

The NHS electronic prescription service is available from both Chaston's Pharmacies, allowing your GP to send your prescription electronically over a secure network. This means that when you receive a prescription from the GP, it is automatically sent to the pharmacy of your choice, without the need for you to pick up a paper copy, saving you time.

Also known as the morning after pill, EHC or levonelle, this is deisgned for those who have had unprotected sex in the last 3 days, or if you are worried that your usual form of contraception may have failed. Our trained pharmacists will simply ask you some questions in our private consultation room to make sure that you are eligible to receive the morning after pill and if supplied, this must be taken on the premises. All of our consultations are strictly confidential. If you are not eligible to receive the morning after pill from our pharmacy the pharmacist will be able to signpost you to the nearest and most appropriate service.

A Medicine Usage Review, also known as a medicines check-up, is a free service provided by Chaston’s Pharmacies. This service is aimed at those patients taking regular medication, allowing the pharmacist to review how the medication is being used, as well as ensuring patients know how and when to take their medications in order for them to receive the greatest benefits from any treatments, and is usually carried out on a yearly basis. It allows patients to ask any questions about their medications or raise any concerns about any side effects they may be experiencing. This can be about all medications, including tablets, liquids, creams or inhalers.

Also known as monitored dosage system (MDS), cassettes or medicine trays, they are designed to help you take your medication with confidence, without the worry of forgetting to take any tablets or taking them at the wrong time. The trays have 4 times slots for each day (morning, lunch, evening and night), and each of your tablets willbe sealed in the appropriate slot. This means all you have to do is break the seal at each time of day, and take the tablets that are inside. Each cassette tray comes with colour pictures of each individual medication contained in the tray, making it possible for you to identify all of your tablets easily. We can also deliver these to you on a weekly basis through our free delivery service, saving you the trouble of collecting your medication each week.

This seasonal vaccination service is available to those aged 18 and over and is the most effective way of helping to prevent you from catching flu. Simply ask a member of staff to book an appointment, or alternatively, ask if the pharmacist is available to do this while you are in the pharmacy.

The New Medicines Service is available for free on the NHS aimed at giving patients a better understanding of specific conditions, allowing them to receive the greatest benefit from their newly prescribed medications. Your local Chaston’s pharmacist may recommend this service if you have recently been diagnosed with asthma or other respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or conditions requiring you to take a medicine affecting the way your blood clots.

The repeat prescription collection service works in 3 easy steps: 1. Call in to your local Chaston's pharmacy to drop off your repeat prescription slip and sign a consent form 2. Around 4-5 days before your prescription is due, call the pharmacy to let us know which medications you need and we will be able toorder them for you. Alternatively, if the prescription has already been ordered from the GP, simply let us know when it will be ready to collect. 3. Come and collect your medication from the pharmacy or have them delivered to your home for free! We will be able to let you know when your prescription will be ready when you order it from us.

This clinic is designed for those who wish to stop smoking and may need some advice or support on the best way to do this. We have accredited stop smoking advisors available to help make this process easier you. Our smoking cessation clinics consist of a 12 week long programme involving a weekly one-to-one support consultation for the first 4 weeks, then fortnightly consultations for the remainder of the programme. Anyone is eligible to join our stop smoking clinics and our fully trained, friendly stop smoking advisors will be able to offer support and advice as well as provide stop smoking vouchers with the Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) of your choice. If you are exempt from paying prescription charges you will receive these products free of charge. If you pay for your prescriptions, you will receive these products at the price of an NHS prescription (currently £8.05 as of April 2014)

The drug user service is provided by our Vane House branch, aimed at helping patients better engage with their treatment and reduce the risk of contracting infections or causing harm. We are able to provide instalment dispensing services, where the prescriber will agree intervals at which you can pick up your medication depending on individual circumstances. The pharmacist will be able to arrange with you the best times for you to collect your medication. As well as this, the pharmacist is able to provide supervised consumption if this is requested by your doctor. This means when collecting your medication, you will be taken into a private consultation room in which you will take your medication in front of a member of staff. This simply helps us to support you in your treatment programme, as well as allowing the prescriber to know your treatment is being followed correctly. Just ask to speak to one of our pharmacists if you have any questions.

If you are travelling abroad, there may be a number of vaccinations you require or certain medications to keep you safe. You can visit your local Chaston's pharmacy before you go to get the help and advice you need in order to protect your health. Our fully qualified pharmacists are able to provide guidance on the types of malaria tablets you may require, the vaccinations required for certain travel destinations as well as general travel health information.
